Coaching and mentoring

Career development and skills enhancement courses: The SFB 1403 strongly encourages female co-workers to take part in courses, individual coaching and mentoring programs, for which the SFB provides financial support.

Parent-child room and Kids-box

Parent-child room:
In the CECAD Research Centre is a parent-child room is available for all groups of the SFB 1403. This room is furnished with a fully equipped desk, beds and playing areas for children and is intended as a special room where scientists – both mothers and fathers – can stay with their children, especially when returning to work after parental leave or in all other cases of need, e.g. when day-care facilities are closed, babysitters are not available etc.

When parents want to bring their children's to the office, they don't have to bring all the "child room equipment" from home. The SFB1403 lends basic equipment so that you can set up mobile children's room equipment in your office without any effort.

The so-called KidsBox is a cabinet that - once opened - offers everything parents need when a short-term childcare bottleneck and an important professional task make it necessary to take the child to the office. It can be moved to your workplace and equipped for babies and children up to 8-9 years. The KidsBox can also be opened for a protected area for breastfeeding and changing.

To borrow the KidsBox, please contact the office of the SFB1403: sfb1403-officeSpamProtectionuni-koeln.de

If you no longer need the Box, please return it to the pick-up location.

It contains (amongst others):

  • a travel bed (also be used as a playpen)
  • a folding mattress and sleeping mat for crawling and playing on the floor (please bring your own pillow, blanket, or fitted sheet for - hygiene reasons).
  • a child seat for docking to your own desk
  • Stool and table for small children
  • various toys and painting items
  • a changing mat
  • disinfection and first aid equipment
  • books and much more (for small children)
  • equipment for school children in grades 1/2
