Female Carrer support from the SFB
The CECAD Female Faculty Club organises informal get-together meetings aimed at female scientists at all levels to promote a vertical network between young female academics and those who are already established in their careers.
Fellowships for maternity leaves and lab assistance. To minimise loss of scientific progress and thus support career advancement during pregnancy and the first years of parenthood, the SFB finances scientific support personnel for a period of 6-12 months to keep experiments and research projects going and to relieve young parents from routine duties in the lab. This offer will be addressed to scientists with children up to the age of 3 years.
Please contact the SFB 1403 Office to request these Fellowships.
Career development and skills enhancement courses: The SFB 1403 strongly encourages female co-workers to take part in courses, individual coaching and mentoring programs, for which the SFB provides financial support.
Parent-child room: In the CECAD Research Centre a Parent-child room is available for all groups of the SFB 1403. This room is furnished with a fully equipped desk, beds and playing areas for children and is intended as a special room where scientists – both mothers and fathers – can stay with their children, especially when returning to work after parental leave or in all other cases of need, e.g. when day-care facilities are closed, babysitters are not available etc.
Childcare. The SFB will co-finance after-hour childcare at the backup service of the “Kinderhaus” Paramecium for children of SFB-associated researchers. Moreover, babysitters will be organized during retreats or other SFB meetings to allow participation of parents with small children.
